Affordable Self-Care for Moms Who Do It All

Because you deserve peace, even if money’s tight

Hey Momma!

When was the last time you did something just for you? As a single moms juggling the demands of work, kids, and household responsibilities, self-care often falls to the bottom of our lists. But here’s the truth: taking care of ourselves is essential. We are the engine that keeps the family running - which means self-care is a PRIORITY! It’s not selfish; it’s necessary for us to be the best moms we can be.

So, let’s dive deeper into the topic of Self-care and what that looks like for YOU!

Regular Self-Care Is Expensive!!!

Many self-care activities are marketed as luxurious and expensive—spa days, pricey fitness classes, or high-end skincare products. For moms like us - on a tight budget - these options may feel out of reach. But self-care doesn’t have to be costly. I’m all about finding small ways to refresh and recharge that fit my busy life and budget - and cuz I don’t gatekeep - I’m about to share them with you!

COST-EFFECTIVE SELF-CARE IDEAS

CREATE A HOME SPA EXPERIENCE

DIY BEAUTY TREATMENTS

Use ingredients from your kitchen for facials, like honey masks or oatmeal scrubs. Here’s the link to my FREE ebook for DIY At Home Spa Treatments!

BATH TIME BLISS

Add Epsom salts (affordable and available at most dollar stores) and a few drops of essential oil for a calming soak.

RELAXING MUSIC

Stream free relaxation playlists on Spotify or YouTube while you unwind.

DOLLAR TREE SPA FINDS

When I tell you that I practically live at the Dollar Tree, I mean it! They aren’t a dollar anymore (everything is $1.25) but they are earning that extra quarter, honey! (At least IMO they are). Here’s a link to my most recent Dollar Tree self-care goodies that I got on my last trip! [Dollar Tree Haul Here]

CONNECT WITH A COMMUNITY

Join online communities of moms who share tips, encouragement, and laughs. The Maverick Mommas Facebook group are a great place to start connecting with moms who share your goals!

LIBRARY RESOURCES

Many local libraries offer free book clubs, crafting events, or story time sessions for kids (so you can enjoy a breather). I love my local library for THIS reason!

MOM SWAPS

Organize a babysitting swap with other moms to get a break without spending money on childcare. Now… make sure these are responsible moms that you know and trust. We aren’t just leaving our babies with everybody and anybody!

PRACTICE MENTAL WELLNESS

GRATITUDE JOURNALING

Use a notebook or scrap paper to write three things you’re grateful for each day. It’s a quick, uplifting habit. I love a good notebook and a cute pen!  Again… Dollar Tree, Target, Family Dollar, Five Below or even Michael’s is a great place to get the supplies necessary for your journaling journey!

MEDITATION APPS

My favorite thing to do is find a YouTube channel with rain sounds and meditate on the Word. ou can use apps like Abide or Calm for scripture based guided meditations to help you relax and refocus in just 5-10 minutes.

Quiet mornings with coffee and book.

SCREEN-FREE MOMENTS

Spend 15 minutes unplugged, enjoying a cup of tea, or sitting outside while the kids play.

AFFORDABLE INDULGENCES

BUDGET-FRIENDLY TREATS

Treat yourself to an inexpensive item, like a favorite snack or a bouquet of fresh flowers from the grocery store. The charcuterie boards at Aldi are my favorite! They’re only like $10 and are pretty good! (I only say pretty good because I love prosciutto and usually have to buy it separately).

THRIFT STORE FINDS

Browse for books, decor, or cozy clothing without spending much. Another great option for free books is the library! And if you can’t get there in person, there’s an app! Download the Libby app to be able to borrow books digitally - but you can also borrow movies too!

COUPON WINS

Use coupon apps like Rakuten or Honey to save on items that make you feel good. Also, a lot of stores like Target and Family Dollar have digital coupons you can clip and use in the store or online!

You Deserve This, Momma!

Self-care is about finding moments to nurture yourself, even in the smallest ways. These ideas don’t require a big investment of time or money but can make a world of difference in how you feel.
